Overview 

Marathi Shala is a community-based educational program recognized by Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM), USA, and operated by the San Diego Maharashtra Mandal (SDMM), a nonprofit cultural organization serving families in California. The school provides structured Marathi language instruction to children from Shishu (Junior Kindergarten) through Pachavi (Fifth Grade).

Educational Objectives

• Develop proficiency in Marathi reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

• Promote culture and heritage conservation through structured lessons on traditions, festivals, literature, and arts.

• Encourage bilingual development and cross-cultural awareness.

• Support students’ holistic development through academic and cultural engagement.

Curriculum Structure

The program follows a progressive grade-level framework from Junior Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Each level builds upon prior knowledge and introduces:

• Age-appropriate vocabulary

• Foundational grammar

• Reading comprehension

• Written expression

• Conversational fluency

​Instructional Schedule

• Online Classes: 30-minute sessions conducted Monday through Thursday evenings between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

• In-Person Classes: Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hanuman Temple, 9265 Activity Rd #110, San Diego, CA 92126.
