SDMM is a not-for-profit organization chartered with the State of California, created with the following objectives:
  • Literary, educational and charitable purposes including promotion of various cultural activities such as music and dance performances, plays and recitals, movie screenings and other events highlighting the culture from Maharashtra or Marathi language.
  • Act as an umbrella organization for bringing together Marathi speaking population in greater San Diego area. Conduct activities to celebrate religious and social festivals and traditions from Maharashtra. Support programs that encourage reading, writing and speaking of Marathi language among kids and youths.
  • Aid and acquaint students and visitors, who are from Maharashtra or speak Marathi language, with the American way of life.

Every year, the SDMM committee tries to arrange a variety of events that bring out the best of our vibrant Maharashtrian culture. Celebrations such as Makar Sankrant, Gudhi Padva, Ganeshotsav, Kojagiri, Diwali among others enable the diaspora to enjoy some of the essence of these festivities right here in San Diego. The programs are organized to be appealing to every member and visitor and the Mandal encourages active participation in all of these events.
Membership and programs are open to the general public.
The SDMM email database is quite large and consists of more than 700 individuals.
You can rest assured that this data is never shared with anybody outside the current SDMM committee.
Would you like to send emails that might be of interest to the SDMM community in and around San Diego county? In order to keep such mailings at a minimum and to prevent abuse, we have very strict guidelines and policies regarding sending mass emails. Please contact committee for approval.
